In 1830's Blessed Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli passed through Patch Grove on his way from Prairie du Chien to Mineral Point staying at time with families in the area. He did much to inspire the establishment of parishes in this area of Wisconsin. While St. John's wasn't officially established by Fr. Mazzuchelli, it continues his mission of bringing Christ and the sacraments to people in this rural area.
